Chilli powder

Chilli powder or powdered chilli is the ground, dried fruit of one or more varieties of chilli pepper. Chilli powder is sometimes known by the specific type of chilli pepper used (such as cayenne pepper). It is used as a spice to add piquancy and flavour to dishes and used in many different cuisines, including Indian, Tex-Mex, Chinese and Thai.

Chilli powder blend or chilli powder is a powdered spice mix composed chiefly of chilli peppers and blended with other spices including cumin, oregano, garlic powder, and salt. Mixes may even include black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, coriander, mace, nutmeg, or turmeric. The chillis are most commonly either red peppers or cayenne peppers, which are both of the species Capsicum annuum. As a result of the various different potential additives, the spiciness of any given chilli powder is variable.

Flavour :
The heat in all chillis, whether hot or mild, is due to the flavourless, odourless, colourless chemical known as capsaicin.
