Fish curry with basmati rice
Ingredients :
4 king fish (surmai)
1 cup coconut milk
2 teaspoon garam masala powder
2 teaspoon chilli powder
2 red chillies
1 cup onion
1 teaspoon ginger
2 teaspoon turmeric
3 teaspoon kokum
2 teaspoon salt
Method :
Step 1 Marinate King fish for about 20-30 minutes
Take a large bowl and add cleaned Kingfish (surmai) in it. Add 1 teaspoon of turmeric in it along with chilli powder, garam masala powder and salt. Rub the fish well and marinate them for 20 -30 minutes.
Step 2 Saute the onion with ginger-garlic masala for 2-3 minutes
Put a pan over medium flame and heat oil in it. When the oil is hot enough, add chopped onion in it and saute until light pink in colour. Add red chillies in the onion and saute them as well. Then, add grated ginger and garlic in the pan and saute until the raw smell goes away and the masala is brown in colour.
Step 3 Cook the fish in the masala with coconut milk
Once the onion is cooked, add salt, turmeric, chilli powder, garam masala powder, and kokum. Stir to mix and cook for 2 minutes. Then, add coconut milk in the pan and let the mixture cook properly till it leaves oil and can see bubbles. Finally, add the marinated fish in this gravy and let them cook for 5-10 minutes.
Step 4 Simmer the gravy for 2-3 minutes and serve hot
Now, let the gravy simmer for 2 minutes and check if the fish is cooked by using a spoon. Once the fish is cooked, put off the gas flame. Fish curry is ready to be served.
