Molaga podi
Ingredients :
Bengal Gram/Chana Dal – 1 Cup
Black gram without skin/Urad Dal – 1 Cup
Dry Red Chilli – 15 or as per taste
White Sesame Seeds/Til – 1/2 Cup
Asafoetida/Hing – 1/2 Teaspoon
Grated Jaggery/Gud – 2 Tablespoon or as per taste
Salt – as per taste
Oil – 1 Teaspoon
Ghee/Clarified Butter OR Sesame Oil – as required for serving
Method :
Heat 1 teaspoon oil in kadai.
Add dry red chillies and saute it on a medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes or until it gets roasted. Transfer to the plate.
Then add bengal gram, urad dal/black gram without skin in the same kadai. Roast them on a low flame. Once it is aromatic, take them out.
Add white sesame seeds and roast on a low flame. Once roasted and starts spluttering, transfer to the plate. Allow all the ingredients to cool completely.
Now, take a grinder jar, Add roated lentils and dry red chillies. Grind them coarsely.
Then add sesame seeds, asafoetida, jaggery, salt. Grind to make fine powder.
Take a seving plate, put the idli, podi. Make a hole in the centre of podi. Pour sesame oil or ghee.
Delicious and healthy ‘Molaga Podi | Idli Podi | Gunpowder’ is ready to be served.
